Spotlight Wedding - Amy & Amit

In August last year, Amy and Amit exchanged vows and said ‘I do,’ making their wedding day one to remember. Although the weather wasn’t exactly a typical summer’s day, the couple’s spirits were high, and nothing could dampen their joy. The day flowed effortlessly, and everyone had a fantastic time celebrating the newlyweds.

We had the pleasure of speaking with Amy, who kindly agreed to share her thoughts, feedback, and advice for future brides and grooms. For those who have chosen Worstead Estate or are considering booking our venue for their wedding day, there’s no better advice than from someone who’s walked the same path you’re about to take.

Where did you first hear about our wedding venue? My friend who then worked at Southwood Hall suggested we contact you.

● What attracted you to the location of The Woodyard as a venue? The option of beautiful outside and inside options, a venue manager and accommodation options.

Did you visit any other venues before deciding on The Woodyard? Yes.

● What was the most important factor for you when selecting a wedding venue? Location, ambiance, size, facilities, etc.? Setting, what's included in the fee and facilities. Also the ease of making a wedding as smooth as possible.

● Did you have a specific vision or theme in mind that influenced your choice of venue? Natural summer wedding/English Garden.

● Did the venue offer any unique features or amenities that you loved? I loved that the bar would be included in the running of the venue and a venue manager along with being able to easily decide on the day where everything would take place. I also liked that we could get into the venue a couple of days before to set things up.

The Aesthetics and The Day

● Did you incorporate any personal or cultural traditions? I had friends make various bits which was nice that I was allowed to bring them in without any problems.

What was the most memorable moment from your wedding day? It was all pretty smooth and fun and Marie was wonderful.

● What was the most challenging part of planning your wedding? Rain  - just coordinating others.

● How did you manage any stress or unexpected challenges? Again Marie helped, as did being able to 'practice/run through' back up plans. On the day you just go with it.

Do you have any advice for our couples who are planning their wedding at The Woodyard?

Use the time you are gifted the days before and the complimentary visits too. Book a night in the onsite cottage for the night after so you don't have to rush, you can just enjoy and reminisce post busy wedding day. Have some idea of what you want where i.e seating/lights etc as you have to source this yourself.
